Brage Vestavik’s “Trolldom”: Building Massive Lines in BC’s Backcountry

When Brage Vestavik drops a project, the mountain bike world pays attention, but Trolldom is something else entirely. More than a riding edit, it’s a visceral, cinematic journey into the rugged terrain and folklore that shaped one of freeride’s most distinctive modern voices. Set deep in British Colombia’s backcountry, Trolldom blends haunting visuals, hand-built features, and Brage’s unmistakable heavy-hitting riding style to create a film that feels equal parts mountain bike banger and Nordic myth.

Steve Vanderhoek talks Brage through his thoughts on the main Trilldom line. These two legends worked closely together throughout the whole process with Steve sharing his local building and riding knowledge with Brage.

These projects and ideas often never come without a substantial amount of mental and physical effort that is often missed in the public eye. In this piece, we dive deep into how Trolldom came to life, the people who made it happen, and the challenges that came with creating one of freeride’s newest iconic film

  • One of the bigger features that was built ended up being a testament to resilience and teamwork. The terrain in BC is not the friendliest to work with...

Thanks to all the builders, friends, and family who lent a hand in supporting this piece.
