Val di Sole: the journey of the MS Mondraker team goes on!
The following is the report received by our DH top team
«2nd round of the UCI worldcup 2013 in Val di Sole and it seems like we are back in our everyday racing life. Coming from Fort William Val di Sole was a back to back race with a 2256 km transfer: Fort William – Newcastle – getting on the ferry to cross over to Amsterdam – Commezzadurra/ Val di Sole. The track in Val di Sole is well known for it’s roughness. Merciless, every mistake gets punished hard. The riders spend some time on track walk and use the help of Damien Spagnolo to improve their performance on the track. Both Innes and Morgane point out with a 3rd and a 4th place. Innes proofed his talent and that he can go the speed of the more experienced 2nd year juniors. Markus was on the limit in his qualifying and crashed, but ended up in 43rd position.
The race started again with the junior men. On his way to at least a top 5 result he within the eyeshot of the finish area. Innes ended up in 11th place. What was disappointing for him was promising for us, as we know what could have happened without the crash we have now a proof for his speed. Morgane went into her race with the handicap of a twisted ankle. Without seeing a doctor Morgane went into the race and got 4th ahead of Myriam Nicole. This meant her 2nd podium in her 2nd race and a little step up. Markus was the last rider of MS Mondraker to come down. Markus came down with a solid run, but not without little mistakes here and there. He crossed the finish line in 2nd position and went into the hotseat with 20 riders still tom come. Markus made it into the top 10 and was able follow up his top 10 results of the 2012. Even we are still missing Damien for the team overall points we were able to made up some points, which helped us to improve in the team ranking. We are now in 5th position just 1 point ahead of Trek World racing. We now get into a almost 5 week worldcup break with some European IXS Cup race and test session to improve our race performance».
