Torpado gains the fifth Italian seasonal winning in the Cross Country Under23 thanks to Serena Calvetti

Torpado Surfing Shop, team sponsored and equipped by Marzocchi, gains the fifth Italian seasonal title with Serena Calvetti, at the Italian Cross Country Championship vied in Lugagnano, proving to be one of the best Italian team. In the women race dedicated to Élite athletes, the third placing was gained from Daniela Veronesi, who led the race on the second placing until when a fall caused to her an important delay. Among Under23, there was a success for Serena Calvetti, arrived to the finishing line with Daniela. For the young rider this is mean winning the third consecutive Italian title, which orders her as a top athlete. Among the male contemporaries, there was a good 17th placing for Nicolò Ferrazzo and the 21st placing for Marco de Col. The race dedicated to Élite riders showed the victory of Marco Aurelio Fontana, who was two minutes ahead of Michele Casagrande and about three minutes ahead of the Torpado Team’s standard – bearer Andrea Tiberi, who was third and the author of an excellent performance. The captain Yader Zoli, who usually preferes the long distance to the cross country, was 16th. On Sunday Gilberto Perini won the third placing among Master4. With regard to the Downhill, there is a lot of regret for the Italian Championship, which took place in Sestriere, despite the good placings; among the women, Alia Marcellini, who was victim of a fall, won the second place. Among the men, a bad accident limited Marco Milivinti, who arrived at the fifth place, while Carlo Gambirasio gained the ninth overall placing, arriving fourth in the league.
