Race report #1

UCI MTB Worldcup Pietermaritzburg /RSA

It’s now in the middle of April and our race season has now fully started with the first worldcup race in Pietermaritzburg/ South Africa.

The time before the race has been pretty hectic for us. The juniors Innes Graham and Andrew Dorritt already did some successful national races and our elite riders Damien Spagnolo and Markus Pekoll have been busy with testing the latest 650B product of our sponsors till the very last minute to be sure to max out our possibilities.

The first big race of the season meant quiet a lot to our team members: it was Andrew's first worldcup race, Damien’s come back after a season off, for Innes it was the first race of an important season and also Markus came back to Pietermaritzburg with some high expectations after his 12th place in the world championships 2013.

Other than everybody expected the track changed quiet a bit from last year, after a lot of moaning about “not being a real worldcup track”. The track designers did a good job in combining the track we knew from previous years with some new technical sections, which made the track being a real worldcup track.

This changes took it’s toll of the MS Mondraker team and so Innes was out with an injury after the first training and Andrew was out after the last training before the race. Branded by positive and negative Highlights the positive prevail: Andrew point out with a 6th place in qualifying, Damien ended up in 23rd position in his comeback race and Markus Pekoll became 14th, which was his best season start since he is on the MS-RACING program.

Now the team is moving from South Africa to Cairns/ Australia for the second worldcup round.

Stay tuned for more news.
