ACC’s first place at Mégavalanche in St. Paul (La Réunion)

French Rider Anne Caroline Chausson has won the last Mégavalanche of 2011 in the tropical scenery on the island La Réunion.

Anne Caroline Chausson Modestly as we know her, she ranks herself at position 25, because she is always competing for herself with the men’s elite class. Officially, she is the female winner of the Mégavalanche at the Mount Maido. In a very superior manner the French gravity legend established herself against the female concurrence.

A new mode in the qualification runs forced her to pull out all her mtb skills already on Saturday in the 3 qualification runs on three different trails. But no problem for ACC! The finals took place on Sunday, November 27th. The final course, quite shortened and altered because of security reasons, was a big challenge for all riders having trained a completely different course.

This pedal-intensive trail including a demaning forest part, was best managed by ACC, with a time of 40 minutes being just 5 minutes slower then men’s elite class winner Rémy Absalom. ACC: “My strategy for this race worked very well, even if it was difficult to find the lucidity for the suite of the course. I led this race from the start to the end with no crash or mechanical problem, you could call it a perfect race!” Marzocchi congratulates Anne Caroline on a great season ending and wishes her a good preparation for 2012.

By the way: In the December issue of the the DIRT Mountainbike Magazine features an interesting and very readable interview with Anne Caroline Chausson, “the greatest racer of all time!”
